Let me start by saying, I really do not want to spend time and money on cheap little “gifty” things that will clutter up my house (or someone else’s), and ultimately end up in the trash in a few days. My overall goal in gift-giving is to choose something that will last, will bring enjoyment and/or learning, without taking up too much space (I give myself bonus points if it’s homemade). Here’s a collection of my favorite ideas for Valentine’s gifts. I’ve included some that would be great for a big group of classmates, a few special kids in your life, and some that work great for friends & neighbors too. *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Wildflower Seed Packets (from Amazon)
Add a sweet handwritten card or tag to a packet of flower seeds, and you have a very easy, affordable, and eco-friendly gift. I was originally thinking of kids or classmates for this idea, but truly it would work for anyone. The ones in my link say “Love is all you Seed” on the seed packet and comes in a pack of 20. They’re sure to be enjoyed by any recipient.
Homemade Cards
Hand crafted cards never go out of style. You can go as ornate or simple as you like! Stickers or glitter to bling it up, hand-drawn pictures to make it more personal, or just a simple note.

Heart shaped Stainless Steel Straws (From Amazon)
These would be darling and useful! Paired with a card or tag they’d be a great little gift for either a few friends or a big class at school! I will add Psalm 107:8-9 to mine, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
Books
For friends or family members, I love to give books. Some of my absolute favorites that would be particularly good for Valentine’s Day are:
Emma Chichester Clark’s: “Plenty of Love to Go Around”(Amazon), and
“I Love You – A Keepsake Storybook Collection”(Amazon).
These are well-worn in our home from being read so much, and we will be hanging on to them for a long time.

Another idea that would work for almost anyone is homemade heart shaped cookies. If you don’t have a heart shaped cookie cutter, try doing shortbread cookies, make heart indent by pressing your thumb down gently in one direction, then tilt it slightly to the side and press again to make a heart! Add a little jam in the heart indent, and bake!

Flower bulbs or a small live plant
A live plant not only lasts a long time, but also evokes a feeling of spring. It brings a sense of newness, fresh starts, and ushers a little more beauty into a space. This would be a great gift for a neighbor, coworker, child, friend… any plant lover in your life! It could be gifted in a small planter, coffee mug, jar, or even in a tiny gift bag.

Thanks so much for checking out my ideas! I hope this post gave you some inspiration for your special valentines.
